Best PC Strategy Games : World in Conflict

About This Game

World in Conflict presents a chillingly authentic Cold War scenario where the Berlin Wall never fell. Created by Cold War authority and best-selling author Larry Bond, the story begins in 1989 as the Soviets, fearing certain collapse, boldly advance into Europe. NATO responds in force only to be met on a second front - a full - fledged invasion of the American homeland.

Players take on the role of field commander, leading the era's most powerful military machines in the campaign to retake America's cities and suburbs. The RTS gameplay features completely destructible 3D battlefields, aggressive team-based multiplayer action and a focus on fast, hard-hitting battles.

I bought this game in the Fall of 2007. I started with the single player campaign and thought it was pretty fun. But, the true glory of World In Conflict is in it's multi-player mode. I've played many other games but World In Conflict is without a doubt the most addictive game I have ever played. The game play is phenomenal. The graphics are fantastic. And the real beauty of this game is that you don't have to waste your time building bases to develop certain units. You can just jump right into the game and start going to battle. It's a shame that the publisher didn't do a better job of advertising this epic game.

Best PC Strategy Games : Sim City 2000

About This Game

While any particular SimCity will probably be a fun little game, it was this version that really captures the charm of the series. For the first time, you had neighboring cities you could trade with, entertaining and informative newspapers you could read, the ability to build zones of different densities, all of which really added to the experience without introducing new problems. There were also subways to take the pressure off of surface transportation, new types of buildings to enrich the populace. If that's not enough, there was the Urban Renewal Kit add-on that allowed you to create your own content and refine the original templates.

SIM City 2000 is one of the easiest games on PC to play and it is great fun too. Build a city from scratch and watch it grow. With a loan from the bank you can start your own electronic world and you're in charge BIG-TIME. As your city gets bigger so do the needs of your blossoming population and let me tell you they aren't always to please. They want schools, hospitals, police and fire departments, libraries and museums and they are also greedy for entertainment such as stadiums, parks and zoos. To get the money in you have to make the city pay for itself, so taxes are the order of the day, and cutting costs just part of day-to-day living in a SIM world. You get totally wrapped up in your city, especially as it evolves with time and eventually looks like something out of Star-Trek. The instructions are easy to follow, and the graphics are chunky and colorful. The sound effects are pretty neat too, and you get a choice of disasters to inflict on your city if you are feeling especially nasty. A great game and at a great affordable price too.

Your looking for a new game right? But, your sick and tired of being bored with your new game by the end of the weekend. Not with this game my friend. You control 2-6 commandos during each mission using each commandos unique abilities to wreak havoc and mayhem on the German Army. The missions start off fairly easy, but watch out! The missions become more and more difficult as the game progresses. This game is not for someone looking for a relaxed WWII sim game. Missions can take a few hours to complete, and there's more than one way to complete each mission. I highly recommend this game for the person who enjoys a challenging(very challenging) game combined with a great storyline

Is there nicotine in video games now? This is the masterpeice of video game making. The game rating from 1-5 is a 10. The realism this game is unexplainable, it steals your weekends, it will become your new best friend. Rome: Total War is the third Total War game in the series after Medieval: Total War, which was good but the graphics were corny, and the fighting was unrealistic. Rome: Total War was a huge step from Medieval: Total War, Rome TW's graphics are outstanding, the cities make you feel as if you are a citizen of them, and the battles are addicting and action packed. If i had to bring two things to a stranded island with me, id bring mty computer and my best friend named RTW.

Review

I have been watching this game develope for the past 6 months and I have to say that I am extremely glad that I bought it. This game is a Real Time Strategy masterpiece when it comes to game play, and its graphics are quite amazing. The game itself is a beast 8GB installed, and really enjoys running your cpu to its max. If you are a real gamer, this game will take your hardware and run all out. With a maximim of 8000 units running at once on an area that is 2500+ square miles, this game can require some serious processing power and takes RTS to a new level. But don't let that scare you, because it can also run quite well on lower end systems, and you can play smaller scale battles if desired.

I have read other reviews about how this game has some issues with AI and in general, but that is true with all games that are released in the first couple of weeks. The AI will do exactly what you order them to do. Granted, sometimes it takes them a second to respond, but that is computing power, not the game play. Also, this game requires good micro management because of the way the economy is designed, and if you give up too soon without learning to manage the system, the game can be not fun.

Over all, I give this game 5 stars because it is challenging and has a lot of promise for the furture.

The time travel mission goes awry, creating an alternate timeline where technology has followed an entirely different evolution, a new superpower has been thrust on to the world stage, and World War III is raging. The Empire of the Rising Sun has risen in the East, making World War III a three-way struggle between the Soviets, the Allies, and the Empire with armies fielding wacky and wonderful weapons and technologies like Tesla coils, heavily armed War Blimps, teleportation, armored bears, intelligent dolphins, floating island fortresses, and transforming tanks.

I have played the Command & Conquer games for years. I haven't had any of the issues with securom other reviewers talk about, even when I have installed the same copy of the game in my computer and in my wife's laptop. This is by far the best Red Alert. It's fun and addictive. My son and I still play it several times a week, in skirmish or on line mode. Highly recommended. It's hard to find a game that you can play over and over without getting bored. Ignore the negative reviews and give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Review

Wow, I can't believe there is only one other review. Seeing the box art brings back alot of memories of playing this back in the day literally for years. I consider this game surpassing the original civilization as the best strategy game, and in my opinion, the best game ever made. This was the game that got me into computer games, revolutionary for its time, paving the way (along with Civ 1 and 2) for what became known as the turn based 4X strategy game genre. Given how dated it is, I doubt it will have much appeal for anyone today, though for its time (1993), it was 10 megabytes of pure genius
